Akasa Silver Mountain 2 N2/GM Review with online sound

In this review we have tested the Akasa Silver Mountain 2 N2/GM Cooler and measured the temperature results with our test setup. Additionally you can listen to an embedded MP3 fan sound sample of the fan on the respective heatsink.

Description Akasa Silver Mountain 2 with Papst 8412 N/2GM fan and fan adapter
Overall size in L/B/H ++ 83/83/90 mm The heat sink protrudes only minimally over the socket, but the fan adapter makes the cooler dimensions much larger.
flow rate +++ 34 CFM (~2600 rpm)
noise level +++ 26 dB (A) The 80s Papst N/2GM fan is absolutely quiet to listen to online:
assembly +++ Very well locked clamp, which can be easily pushed down with a small slotted screwdriver, whereby the screwdriver cannot slip out of the provided holder due to lateral metal clamps.
Cooling result +++ The cooling result is quite respectable. The CPU reached almost 42°C at 1.75 V and only 45°C at 1.90 Volt.
Overall impression +++ The nearly 600 gram heavy successor of the well known Silver Mountain from Akasa has a mirror-smooth underside, which even irritated my digicam a bit, because the scratches on the lower picture are only absolutely small and look gigantic on the photo. Due to the very good workmanship, the Akasa Silver Mountain 2 delivered useful results even with the whisper-quiet 80 N/2GM fan on the included fan adapter, which are suitable for both original PCs and overclocked Socket A systems. But the cooler is not only something for the CPU, but certainly also something for the eye, which will certainly play a big role in buying case modders.

It is also suitable for Peltier elements ! Many thanks to Overclockers.de for the test sample.
