AMD Ryzen 7000/9000 DDR5 RAM OC Guide

Today we are focusing once again on the initial core topic of OCinside.de and show how you can significantly increase the speed of DDR5 RAM on AMD Ryzen 7000/9000 systems with just a few simple steps and without having to buy expensive RAM. We reveal how to do this step by step in the following DDR5 Ryzen 7000/9000 RAM OC guide!

We hope you enjoy reading the new DDR5 RAM OC guide for Ryzen 7000/9000.

Thanks for the support …

Thanks for the support to Daniel and the manufacturer Crucial.

The Crucial Pro Overclocking 64GB DDR5 2x 32GB DDR5-6400 memory kit CP2K32G64C40U5B used for this guide currently has at review date a price of approx. 175 Euro and performed solidly in our test. At this point we would like to emphasize that although this memory kit has the term OC in its name, it is basically a low-cost memory kit and not a high-end memory kit with strictly selected chips designed to break records. Here you can find the detailed Crucial Pro Overclocking 2x32GB DDR5-6400 test.

Here you can order the Crucial 64GB DDR5-6400 kit at a reasonable price. *Ad

Introduction …

Random access memory (RAM) is an essential component of a PC and, along with the main processor (CPU), is largely responsible for the computing speed of the PC. If there is not enough RAM available or if it is not set up optimally, this can result in a considerable loss of speed!

With 32GB RAM you are currently still well served, but thanks to the new module sizes with 24 or 32GB you can now equip a PC with 64GB of fast RAM at a reasonable price.

Desktop systems currently have two-channel memory controllers and can therefore operate up to four DDR5 modules. For optimum performance, we recommend the use of 2 modules. This means that the RAM runs in fast dual-channel mode and the memory controller is less stressed than with 4 modules. Preferably, the two RAM modules should also only be occupied on one side with memory chips. This is called single-rank, i.e. 1 memory rank per module. More than 2 modules with 2 ranks each (dual-rank) are not recommended and lead to significant speed losses.

In the following instructions, we show the most important optimization options for users who are new to the topic of optimizing DDR5 RAM and would like to gain initial experience. However, basic knowledge of assembling PCs and the settings in the BIOS/UEFI should already be available.

Benchmark Tools …

To determine the performance of the RAM, we use the Cache & Memory Benchmark from ADIA 64 Engineer, the CPU test from 3D-Mark Time Spy and the integrated benchmark of the Ryzen DRAM Calculator. These test programs can be downloaded from our Links & Downloads section under Overclocking software downloads. They react with their results to the speed of the working memory and are therefore well suited to record the performance increases achieved.
