ASRock X870E Taichi OCF AMD AM5 Motherboard Review

+++++ The ASRock X870E Taichi OCF The AM5 motherboard is sure to get enthusiasts’ hearts racing! It offers state-of-the-art features, including no less than six M.2 slots that can be used simultaneously and Wi-Fi 7 for the fastest wireless connections. It also has two PCIe Gen5 slots and a highly powerful power supply for the CPU, forming a stable basis for extreme overclocking, as the 10-layer PCB is also beyond reproach. With the X870E Taichi OCF, ASRock has managed to strike a balance between maximum convenience and outstanding overclocking capabilities, leaving nothing to be desired. With only two DIMM slots, the maximum amount of RAM is limited compared to boards with 4 slots, but thanks to increased memory density, up to 128GB of RAM can currently be used on the Taichi OCF, which should be more than enough for most applications.

5Gbit/s fast LAN, two USB4 Type-C ports with 40Gbit/s, two 20Gbit/s fast front USB-C ports, up to 17 additional USB Type-A ports, and up to 36W fast charging via USB leave nothing to be desired in terms of connectivity.

Only the RGB lighting could have been integrated a little more elegantly and extensively, but fortunately this does not detract from the performance of the Taichi OCF.

Even more pleasing is the price of this extraordinary motherboard, which at less than ?500 is cheaper than many other high-end motherboards.

The lack of support for 2230 M.2 SSDs is not entirely understandable, but it is not a major issue, as this size is actually intended for mobile devices and SSDs of this size can be connected via adapters if necessary.

In this respect, we have no choice but to award our highest honor, the OCinside.de Overclocking Dream Award, to the ASRock X870E Taichi OCF, as there is currently no more one could wish for from an AM5 motherboard.
