Enermax Platimax D.F. 600W Power Supply Review

Layout, design and features …

Let us take a look at the supplied cables.

All cables included in the scope of supply have a fabric cover in black/white. This can positively influence the airflow in the computer and in any case protects the cables from damage. In our technical details, we have already indicated the dimensions that are required for the cables in order to insert the plug angled into the required socket. It is noticeable to us that the connecting cable for the power supply of the CPU is pleasing 67 cm long. This should not cause problems with the connection of the motherboard, even within large cases.

Even the connection cable for the main power supply of the mainboard is 52 cm and long enough to be able to be installed also neatly behind the motherboard. But now we come to the real star of this review. The Enermax Platimax D.F. 600 W power supply.

Until the day Enermax builds triangular power supplies, however, there are no exciting pictures to be admired at this point. The design is not different from that of other manufacturers.

Thanks to the fully-modular design, the power supply has a lot of slots at the connection side and can easily be installed into the housing without a permanently installed motherboard cable.

The large opening on the top is protected by a ventilation grill with Enermax lettering on it. Beneath there is the large 139 mm fan with the patented Twister bearing. In addition, the fan or its working principle is partially namegiver for the Platimax D.F. power supply. The addition D.F. stands for Dust Free (rotation) and describes the additional function of the fan. When it is switched on, it rotates counterclockwise for the first ten seconds, in order to transport dust particles from the power supply. The direction of rotation then changes back into the cooling mode.

The upper side holds the type plate, on which we can find all important technical data again at a glance.

At the front we see the mesh grill, which provides the power supply with enough fresh air, as well as the power supply socket and the power supply on/off switch.

It is often the case that the drill holes of the power supply manufacturers do not match those of the case manufacturers. In our case, however, we were able to mount all screws on the housing without any deformation. Let us now turn to the actual electronics of the power supply.

Electronic …

Before we come to the inner values we would like to mention at this point that the novice user should never open his power supply. There are components and soldering points inside which are not insulated and can lead to dangerous electrical shocks or even death by contact! Repairs should only be carried out by trained personnel. In addition to that …

Let’s look at the built-in fan. Visually, this differs in no way from other similar fans. The function of reversing the direction of rotation will be taken up again in the installation and operation section.
