The Ugreen DH2300 is a device that offers an affordable entry point into the world of network-based storage. It can be used at home as a central repository for family data, but also as a media server. The network speed is sufficient for these applications, and the feature set is definitely adequate. As with all Ugreen NAS devices we have tested so far, the build quality is very good.
The user interface is designed to be simple and intuitive, even for inexperienced users. A particularly helpful feature is that the user is automatically guided through certain important setup steps.
Power consumption, noise level, and heat generation are within the range expected for a device of this performance level. It is also quiet enough to be used as a media storage device in the living room next to the TV, for example.
If you don’t need advanced features like Docker containers or virtual machines, this NAS will serve you well.
If you install SSDs instead of spinning hard drives, you can reduce noise and slightly increase data throughput.
