Xigmatek Centauro 600W PSU Review

Let us now come from the technical data to the optical and practical criteria. The black metal chassis has a good finish and except the two special 3-pin fan connectors all hard wired power cables are protected with black mesh plastic sleeves. Here you see the Xigmatek Centauro Power Force PSU along with the preassembled cables:

Here is a picture with a bent view of the Centauro power supply:

The large 135 mm Globe Fan attached at the lower surface sucks the air flow into the power supply and blows the warmed up air without another fan through the small holes out of the power supply. The fan is silent and it’s nearly impossible to recognize the sound of the fan, after installation into the PC case.

Thanks to the good cooling over the 135mm fan, another fan is not necessary on the power supply back. Here one can see the back of the power supply, where one can see only the large power switch and the socket for the 230V power cord (this AC230V version is not suitable for 100-240V AC operation):

As already mentioned on the first review page, the Xigmatek PSU is build modular and provides thanks to individually connectable cables a cleared up PC. This provides a better aeration and/or heat dissipation from the PC case to increase the hardware durability with a lower possible temperature.

The SATA cable is as seen on some other PSUs a little bit unfavorably designed, since the rear cap can get off easily, whereby the contacts on the back of the plug are opened. For example Cooler Master showed with the plugs of their Silent Pro M500 PSU, how to solve this in a better way.

In order to save some money for additional adapters, the 20-pin plug (up to ATX 2.2) can be converted very simply to a 24-pol ATX plug. This may be for some users a bit fiddly, but it’s difficult to solve this in a better way. Helpful for PC beginners are the two arrows to show the proper plugging.

A look inside of the power supply shows a good processing and offers except of the 85°C capacitors good components.

The tidy structure and efficient cooling increases the durability and lowers the necessary fan noise level.
