Test setup …

The following configuration is used as a test system:
Intel Core i5 4460 @ 3200 MHz with 0.99 Volt
MSI B85M-E45 Rev. 2.0
2x 4GB DDR3-1600
MSI GeForce GTX960 4GB OC
Cooler Master 500W Silent Pro power supply
Fractal Design Define R5 case
Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit

For measurement, the following tools were used: Prime95 V28.7 and SpeedFan V4.51
Thermal compounds: Arctic MX-4 (included)

The ambient temperature during the test was about 20°C.

For the silent mode, the Arctic fan was set to 500 rpm, for maximum cooling the fan was then set to 1350 rpm. In Idle only Windows and SpeedFan was started. We then loaded with the small-FFTs test from Prime95. No power saving features have been disabled in the BIOS / UEFI.

Arctic Freezer 33 Plus results …

Here is the Arctic Freezer 33 Plus compared to the boxed cooler of the Intel Core i5-4460. The boxed cooler could not be tested under load in silent mode, as the temperatures exceeded the maximum too fast.

The fans are audible starting at 900 rpm in our test system and maintain a relatively comfortable level even at maximum speed.

The results are not surprising when you take a look at the previous model. Only at minimum speed is the cooling performance somewhat better, which is probably attributable to the larger airflow through two fans.

We explained the differences in measuring CPU temperatures and how to overclock in detail in our Intel Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 OC guide.
