Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000W Modular PSU Review

Cooler Master already showed in our previous reviews, that they manufacture excellent power supply units and their Silent Pro Gold 1000W power supply underlines this impressively. The results are so impressive, that the Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000W received the ocinside.de OverClocking Dream 02/2011 award. In the review we will examine, among other things, how high the current consumption is with this enormously high power of 1KW and if it is worth to buy such a PSU.

The supply of the Coolermaster 1000 Watt PSU …

In this golden box comes the Cooler Master 80PLUS Gold power supply with its accessories.

That is contained in the box …

In the following picture, one can see the black 150x180x87mm power supply with the attached approx. 48-50cm long 20-pole ATX and/or 24-Pol ATX 2.2 cable for the motherboard current supply and the attached 60cm long 12V CPU cable with 4x 4-pin plugs. Furthermore they hard wired also the 6+2 pin PCI-E power connectors firmly to the Silent Pro Gold 1000W like Cougar with their SX-700 power supply, so one can use directly 4x 6+2-pin plugs for the graphics card. Cooler Master surely think, that one buy such a high current PSU only for systems with several graphic cards, but we think that not every buyer has four graphics cards in its PC. So in this case, you have unused power cables inside of your PC, even if you buy a “modular” power supply. The ATX cable is approx. 48-50cm long and could be too short for some fullsize tower systems. So one should better measure all lenghts inside of the case.

In the scope of delivery are a lot of cables in a bag, four screws, a folding sheet which contains a pictured building instruction, power supply pin allocations, warning references, warranty (5 years) and the disposal references. The bag is very useful, since one can store unnecessary cables very well. The Cooler Master SiliconPad antivibration pads (e.g. Silent Pro M) are not included in the Gold PSU package:

Here is another picture with all power supply cables:

1x 50cm attached ATX / ATX 2.2 cable with one 20+4-pin plug (50cm) 2x 60cm attached 12V CPU cables with two 4+4-pin plugs (60cm) 2x 70cm attached PCI-E cables with two 6+2-pin plugs (60+10cm) 2x 70cm PCI-E cables with one 6+2-pin and one 6-pin plug (60+10cm) 3x 70cm cables with three SATA connectors (50+10+10cm) 1x 55cm cable with two molex plugs (45+10cm) 1x 65cm cable with two molex plugs and one floppy connector (45+10+10cm) 1x 220V power cable with 1,5mm²

The cables are very flat, so they’re very easy to install in most enclosures. All connections can be connected well and offers a safe contact.
