SSD with high speed and low power consumption! When developing the P510 PCIe 5.0 SSD in 2280 format, Crucial placed particular emphasis on low power consumption, while still significantly exceeding the performance of PCIe 4.0 x4 SSDs. Our following test reveals whether this has been achieved.
After a slow market launch of SSDs with PCIe 5.0 interfaces a good two years ago, the time has now come to choose the right model for your specific application from a wide range of different models. The Crucial P510 2TB M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 2280 NVMe SSD CT2000P510SSD8 without heatsink has at review date a price of approx. 180 Euro (09/2025). In terms of price, the P510 is therefore in the lower range of PCIe 5.0 SSDs. Alternatively, Crucial also offers the P510 SSDs with 1TB storage capacity and with a heat sink.

The delivery of the Crucial P510 SSD …
The Crucial P510 NVMe SSD is delivered in a cardboard box measuring approx. 11x10x1.6cm. For the sake of the environment, material could be saved. The SSD itself is specially protected inside in a small plastic blister pack. On the front of the packaging, in addition to the name, there is also a reference to the current PCIe 5.0 interface and the size. Up to 10,000 MB/s read speed is promised, which we will check later.
On the back, we are also told that this SSD is intended for laptops and desktops and a lower power consumption than the in-house T705 SSD is also promised.

The only accessory supplied is a quick start guide, which only contains a link to the support page.
A screw for fastening the SSD in the M.2 socket is no longer included with the P510 SSD.
