The latest NVMe SSD from Crucial hardly differs from the predecessor in terms of looks. However, it is the inner values that count and exactly these are important for NVMe SSDs. The new model has only been given the name “Plus”, but it has been pimped a lot on the inside. The P5 Plus is currently the fastest M.2 NVMe SSD from Crucial and does not have to hide from any competitor. It succeeds the already extremely successful in our Crucial P1 SSD review, Crucial P2 SSD review and the Crucial P5 SSD review. Today we test the new P5 Plus in the popular 1TB size and compare how much faster the Crucial P5 Plus is than its predecessors.

Thanks for the support …

Thanks for the support to Daniel and the manufacturer Crucial.

The Crucial P5 Plus 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD CT1000P5PSSD8 has at review date a price of approx. 150 Euro and is also available in the Crucial Shop.

The Crucial P5 Plus M.2 SSD series currently includes the following types:
Crucial P5 Plus SSD 500GB M.2 CT500P5PSSD8, Crucial P5 Plus SSD 1TB M.2 CT1000P5PSSD8 und die Crucial P5 Plus SSD 2TB M.2 CT2000P5PSSD8

The read and write rates are specified with different performance depending on the SSD capacity and the lifetime with different TBW (Total Bytes Written) values depending on the capacity. The smallest P5 Plus SSD is specified with 4000MB/s write performance, while the Crucial P5 Plus 1TB and 2TB are specified with 5000MB/s. Crucial even specifies the identical value of 6600MB/s for the read speed for all 3 versions. Since there is no longer a 250GB variant, the differences in read and write performance between the smallest and largest version are now much smaller and barely exist.

The delivery of the Crucial CT1000P5PSSD8 SSD …

The Crucial P5 Plus NVMe SSD is delivered in a 13x10x1.4cm box made of thin cardboard. The packaging is smaller than that of some market companions, but it could be even smaller from an ecological point of view. On the front, you will find the name as well as the current PCIe 4.0 interface, which allows the highest transfer rates.

The back shows usual references to data transfer software, the installation instructions and the Crucial optimization tool, which can be found behind the crucial.com/welcome link.

Alternatively, we offer some manual instructions in our forum on how to copy an SSD.

This is included in the delivery package …

Inside the box is a blister pack containing the SSD and this time even an M.2 mounting screw. The screw is equipped with a Phillips drive for easy installation. Furthermore, a folded leaflet with the warranty conditions and information about Crucial’s support page is included.

The small screw is not an element to be despised, because if you upgrade the PC later, you might not be able to find the screw originally included with the mainboard 😉
